About this deal

Have developed a unit that can use existing copper tape and allows you to check if it is working with a battery life of 2 to 3 years.

And it also makes sense, sort of, why someone thought copper tape would work and also why in reality why it wouldn’t. I surrounded the middle of two planters with copper tape and finally have petunias and pansies that aren’t nibbled to shreds. She then rated the damage visually and useda leaf area meter for the first time,to record the damage in every square cm of the leaves.Tried coffee grounds, egg shells and other rough surfaces (have even tried inverted wire brushes – again does not work). Something drank my beer last night and must have eaten the trapped slugs as well, nothing in the trap, but my petunias were in tatters. As with any copper material, Copper Slug Tape will turn green with age, but will not affect the product’s performance. To date it has had 100% success on large pots and I am now going to try it on a raised vegetable patch. Matt takes inspiration from gardens like Hidcote and Great Dixter and enjoys watching anything on TV presented by Monty Don or Louis Theroux.

Slugs and snails are literally the bane of my life right now, especially with all the rain we’re getting.Jeff Gillman, one of the Garden Professors, commented “When I’ve tested copper the slugs seemed to have a slight preference for not crossing it, but would if that was what they need to do to get where they were going. I stopped slugs getting to my potted Hosta’s by smearing a layer of Vaseline round the top edge of the pots, this works extremely well, just got to make sure the leaves don’t touch the ground or other plants ! I am also experimenting with rolling the mesh loosely around the base of some of my younger fruit trees. I stapled two nickel plated copper wires 1/4″ (6mm) apart around the collars and placed polythene at the corners to insulate the wire conductors from the steel corner hinges. May I suggest that the natural iron in the soil would provide the anode for the production of a small electric current to occur.
