This is far better than the old display, where you’d get a set of lights to indicate the rough level of charge remaining; but it isn’t as good as the Dyson V15 Detect, which shows you battery life in minutes. Other features to note are the DuoClean, which allows you to toggle between a brushroll for hard floors and a roller for carpets. Most of the weight is kept just above the floor head, with the battery and all the workings of the main vacuum unit kept well below the mid-height point. The LCD screen on the handle shows the battery level percentage in increments of 10% so you always know how much power you have left.

While removing the battery is quick and simple, if you prefer to put the vacuum on a charging dock or plug a cable directly in, this isn’t the vacuum for you. The latest Shark also comes with PowerFins - essentially a re-designed hard roller built to suck up ingrained dust from deep within carpets and target stubborn dirt on hard floors.

The Shark ICZ300UKT left an embarrassingly visible line of clean carpet after just one pass, so after a few minutes of cleaning, I was very impressed to find the 0. The former has red trim and is otherwise identical to the blue ICZ300UKT, except for the selection of attachments that come with it.

With all the controls on the handle, adjusting the suction power or floor type as you vacuum is effortless, however, we did have to keep repositioning our hand for comfort, the handle can be uncomfortable if your grip is too close to the control panel.

It doesn’t feel heavy or awkward to push and generally maneuvers well around corners and in tight spaces.

While raw power tells us a bit about a vacuum cleaner, real-world performance will largely come down to the quality of the accessories. As you’d expect, this tool is great for getting pet hair out of upholstery but it’s also worth having for any smaller job, particularly vacuuming stairs. The pet variant (the Shark IZ300UKT) comes with a mini turbo brush, while the IZ320UKT comes with the same turbo brush plus an extra battery, letting you clean for twice as long without recharging. While on the face of it, this is an upright vacuum, the Powered Lift-Away function gives it the convenience of a handheld and a cylinder. Overall, it’s around what I’d expect to see from Shark’s recent vacuums, which have proved themselves brilliant at cleaning across the board.This is one drawback if you're looking for the best vacuum cleaners for pet hair, but for how deep it reached into my carpet, I'm willing to overlook the smaller bin size.
