About this deal

That brings us to magic items – 27 magic items, of which a much greater than usual number are artifacts of the giant deities. Many also lean on rune activation as a mechanic for a 1/day property, in addition to its always-on properties. This sourcebook also provides over 30 giant-themed magic items, including three legendary artifacts, while offering Dungeon Masters valuable tools like lair maps, adventure hooks, encounter tables, treasure ideas, and inspiration for roleplaying giants. Because the damage is “extra damage”, it is multiplied on a critical hit. It can be very tempting to reserve Strike of the Giants for crits, but usually it’s more impactful to use it for the rider effect.

Notably, D&D Beyond has also released a free 16th-level one-shot entitled Giants of the Star Forge, which is designed to supplement the materials presented in Glory of the Giants. The lore is fantastic and the book does a great job of presenting giants as more than just mindless monsters Overall, I like these feats okay. If they had been out when I first created my Rune Knight, I might have considered building around Strike of the Giants and one of the follow-on feats. The DM would let me rebuild, I’m just not sure how much I want to – I’m already a fire genasi Rune Knight, that’s a lot of elemental theme going on. Chapter 2: Giants in Play The book does a good job of presenting giants as a complex society rather than just a monster to be killed.

Encounter over 70 new monsters and other enormous creatures to face in the D&D Beyond Encounter Builder. This chapter is everything I could have plausibly asked of it and a whole lot more. Huge fan. Chapter 4: Giant Enclaves Any book on giant lore in D&D has some reconciliation to do, because the Ordning cares about six giant types, but monster books have released a whole lot more over the years. The absence of spacesea giants from this book and 5e Spelljammer is, of course, a sham and a travesty. A shavesty! (Sorry, my kids have been watching a lot of Captain Underpants while I recover from COVID. You get what you get.) My actual point is that the book does also cover firbolgs, fomorians, death giants, cyclopes, trolls (not gonna lie, I’d like a lot more on trolls, including WotC’s spin on trollkin), ettins, and goliaths. Through whatever happenstance, these adventurers have grown up among the towering figures of giantkind. Just as every adventurer’s story is different, so is that of every giant foundling. Maybe you were found as a baby by a nomadic family of giants who raised you. Or perhaps you fell into a stone chasm and were rescued by stone giants. At the end of the day, Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giantsis quite comparable to Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, which is a solid book full of useful information when wanting to incorporate a certain monster type into your campaign.Because of this, giants often do not pray to their progenitor but to his divine children and other hero-deities that constitute the giants' pantheon. The sons of Annam, representing each subsection of giantkind, hold significant positions among the religious beliefs of the various giant civilizations. We will not include 3rd-party content, including content from DMs Guild, in handbooks for official content because we can’t assume that your game will allow 3rd-party content or homebrew. We also won’t cover Unearthed Arcana content because it’s not finalized, and we can’t guarantee that it will be available to you in your games. Your choice here also limits which other feat in the tree you can take. Since Strike of the Giants can’t be taken more than once, you’ll typically select your type of giant based on which of the 4th-level feats you want to take. Strike of the Giants provides some on-hit damage and usually a rider effect, offering some versatility for martial classes looking to do more than damage. At PB/day uses these won’t dominate your tactics, but they do give you a fun button to push a few times per day. Explore the wondrous realms of giants with this supplement for the world’s greatest roleplaying game.

As with previous D&D sourcebooks, there is also both a standard cover version and an alt cover version of the book. Who is Bigby? The standard cover and alt cover version of the new sourcebook What is Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants about? This book follows the accounts of the prolific wizard Bigby and the knowledge he gained surrounding the giants’ roles in the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons. Let’s explore what you can expect from this sourcebook and how this colossal amount of content will grow your games! Either way, living among giants as a Medium- or Small-sized creature is bound to have a profound impact on your life. To put it in perspective, most giants are Huge creatures. The smallest giants of the ordning are hill giants, who stand at around 16 feet tall. Growing up in surroundings engineered for creatures at least double your size means everyday activities like eating, sleeping, or navigating your home have been a challenge that requires innovation and adaptation. I hope we’ll see more books in this vein – the 3.5e Fiendish Codex I and II and Lords of Madness have a great reputation as books, and I’d like to see 5e’s take on Fiends and Aberrations. Ideally, that’d include a deep dive into the malevolent stars.Among the various types of giants, including cloud giants, fire giants, frost giants, hill giants, stone giants, and storm giants, there exists a structured social hierarchy known as the ordning. Each giant is assigned a rank within this caste system, determining their social standing and relationships with others. Some giants dedicate their lives to excelling in the qualities valued by their society, seeking to rise within the ordning. The “enclaves” are short, easily digestible adventures that will be easy to slot into campaigns, especially when combined with the encounter tables in the previous chapter.
